East Hampton High School Student Amber Murphy Awarded the Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship from Liberty Bank Foundation
Liberty Bank announced today that Amber Murphy of East Hampton, Connecticut, was selected as the recipient of the 2024 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship, which is awarded annually by the Liberty Bank Foundation.
Amber is a graduate of East Hampton High School’s class of 2024 and will attend the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts this fall to pursue her studies in Mechanical Engineering.
Friends and family would describe Amber as driven, curious, passionate, and kind. These traits align with Liberty’s corporate brand, “Be Community Kind”. In addition to Amber’s success in the classroom, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the DEEP STEM (Discover, Enjoy, Explore, and Practice) Program at Central Connecticut State University.
The Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded this $1,000 scholarship since 2008 to an exceptional high school senior in Connecticut who recently graduated and will pursue a higher education, majoring in engineering or a technology‐related field. The scholarship is named in honor of former Liberty Bank Board Chairman Donald B. Wilbur.
Since its inception in 1997, Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded over $16 million in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Liberty Bank’s market area. Following the Bank’s Be Community Kind spirit, the Foundation seeks to improve the lives of individuals and families by investing in three key areas: Education & Training, Affordable Housing, and Food.
