Liberty Bank Foundation Awards $5,000 Each to East Longmeadow Food Pantry and Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity
David W. Glidden, President & CEO of Liberty Bank, headquartered in Middletown, Connecticut, and President of the Liberty Bank Foundation, announced the Foundation awarded grants totaling $10,000 to two local nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts.
The East Longmeadow Food Pantry and Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity were each presented a check for $5,000 to help mark the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bank’s first-ever branch in Massachusetts, which took place in early December. The new location opened on November 6, 2023 at 94 Shaker Road in East Longmeadow and is led by Teresa Parker, Branch Manager.
“Through grants and sponsorships, volunteerism by our teammates, and the extraordinary banking experiences we deliver to customers, the Liberty Team will always go above and beyond to help our neighbors and businesses in the areas we serve as we’ve done for over 198 years. These grants to the East Longmeadow Food Pantry and the Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity are very timely this holiday season and shows Liberty is only just getting started in Massachusetts with our ‘Be Community Kind’ spirit,” said Glidden.
“We are grateful to the Liberty Bank Foundation for the generous grant in support of the East Longmeadow Food Pantry. The grant will be put to immediate use, ensuring that our recipients have necessary items for holiday meals,” said Erin Koebler, Director, East Longmeadow Food Pantry. “We added over 90 new recipients this year, so the Liberty Bank Foundation grant will also help us to build the capacity required to meet the growing needs of our residents throughout the next year. Thank you for your Community Kindness!”
“We are thrilled to be chosen as a recipient of a $5,000 gift, presented to us at the branch ribbon cutting ceremony,” said Aimee Giroux, Executive Director, Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity. “We greatly appreciate Liberty Bank's continued and generous partnership in support of our efforts and look forward to making an even greater impact in our community, exhibiting Liberty Bank's focus on always being Community Kind.”
The grand opening of Liberty Bank’s East Longmeadow branch happened two months after the launch of the team’s Commercial Loan Production Office (LPO) located at One Monarch Place in downtown Springfield. The branch at 94 Shaker Road was previously the Massachusetts LPO. The company is already becoming a familiar, hometown community bank and is experiencing rapid growth. Both the commercial and branch teams are eager to continue serving this community by personally helping customers with their unique financial needs and deepening the Bank’s commitment to giving back locally.
